Senior Consultant (Clapham, sw4 & International)

Role description

Senior Consultants are accountable for the management of staff, either through formal line management or resource management under allocated projects or clients. They also have management for a service area or core business function.

All Senior Consultants must have experience of:

  • Working in a consultancy environment
  • Dealing with senior stakeholders
  • Supporting or managing specialist staff including but not limited to  technical staff.

The Senior Consultant will regularly engage with colleagues at 9ine and their clients to determine their requirements. This will involve working with a broad number of users or stakeholders at a client site.

In addition, the senior consultant will be responsible for monthly planning, reporting and resourcing. They will regularly provide reports to the senior management team, quality assure all aspects of the work carried out for a client and act as a point of assurance for their service and client.


Previous experience

This role is suited for an individual that has management consultancy, project management experience or comes from a technology consultancy background. We are looking for individuals that have helped organisations identify issues and improve performance, through a methodical and data driven approach.

Delivery responsibilities:

  • Working with clients to determine their strategic and operational requirements
  • Reviewing a client’s IT systems and services to identify risks and issues
  • Managing multiple concurrent clients or projects, whilst prioritising and achieving key deadlines and deliverables
  • Agreeing scope and deliverables with clients in line with their strategic objectives and the company's commercial targets
  • Planning projects or programmes of work to help clients’ achieve their strategic objectives
  • Governing client deliverables through suitable reporting and assurance to ensure targets are met and risks or issues mitigated
  • Managing and overseeing all components of delivery for a client, including the management of 9ine specialists
  • Travelling to client sites within the UK and Internationally


Service or business function duties responsibilities:

  • Developing intellectual property for allocated service area or business function
  • Continuously reviewing and improving processes and procedures associated with area of responsibility
  • Supporting the continued growth of the area of responsibility
  • Supporting the marketing and sales of your allocated service area
  • Developing the team's knowledge and skills in delivering your allocated service area
  • Quality assuring the team's delivery of your service area to our clients
  • Managing the staff allocated under your service area, line management or delivery management  


Professional development responsibilities

  • Driving personal continued professional development in line with 9ine’s CPD model
  • Creating and supporting the professional development of all staff in the company based on your specialist area


What we are looking for in a Senior Consultant:

  • Excellent communication skills to all levels or types of stakeholders
  • Matrix management and support experience
  • Ability to lead and drive to continuous improvements
  • Ability to react whilst understanding the impact of change requests on a client's strategic objectives or 9ine’s commercial agreement
  • Ability to effectively plan prior to making changes and commencing work (including contingency planning)
  • Strong written skills including but not limited to report writing
  • Ability to seek support and guidance whilst maintaining accountability and ownership

Our assessment process takes into consideration the following:

  • Evaluation of covering letter and CV, if successful
  • An initial telephone interview, if successful
  • A face-to-face 360 interview with the Managing Director, Operations Director and three or more 9ine staff. During this stage you will be asked to carry out an assessment in the form of scenario based questions.
